Playroom reveal

Sorry it's taken me so long to post pictures. We have been adding things here and there and I waited on some items from Ikea forever and then I finally cancelled it and bought replacements elsewhere. The room isn't completely done but for the most part, it's done and we all love it! I will try to link as much as I can but bear with me. It's a lot of stuff!

We kept going back and forth on the color. I was scared pink would make it look like a Pepto-Bismal bottle. We finally decided to just do it and decided to paint the place at the windows(on the left) the darker shade on the paint swatch. We love it. It looks great!
Art hanger, end table, cubby unit from IKEA (we bought 2)
Slipcover from Amazon
Pillows from Target(discontinued)

I love these dry erase tags. I wanted to label the bins but needed something that I could switch out easily. I added numbers at the bottom to help Madison. So when I say "Go put your food back-Look for Number One" It teaches her her numbers and also what cubby is what and it makes it kind of fun for her to clean up.

We left 4 cubbies open for books and games. If we ever add a bookshelf in the room, I will buy 4 more storage cubbies.

Table and chairs from IKEA
Chalkboard decal from GroopDealz
"Exploring" decal from Target

The items I cancelled were the 3 buckets to hang on the rail. These items got "lost" twice and IKEA was a pain in the rear to deal with. Long story short, I waited over 2 months for these items and ended up cancelling them and found these glass jars at Hobby Lobby. I don't like them as much but they work and they are smaller than the IKEA buckets which mean I can fit more on the rail. Moral of the story, never order from IKEA. Only shop in the store.

 Pendant from Lowe's

I made this felt board by wrapping felt around a foam poster board and stapling it to the back.
I then attached it to the wall using 3M velcro strips.

The felt nursery rhymes are seperated by story in a binder.
The slips of paper have the rhyme on it.

The white table was a Christmas present. It has a huge drawer on the other side where we keep all of their "people".
Madison loves PlayMobil so she mainly uses the table for that.
Train table from Toys R Us

I could not keep this water table clean outside. So I converted it into a sensory table. It came with a slide to be used as part of the water table and it had holes under it, so I found some fun scrapbook paper and covered it up. I found some fun spangles and poured them in. Throw in some measuring cups, whisks and scoops and Madison really likes playing with it. Using it as "tea" or "coffee". It can be a mess sometimes so the bigger spangles work better.

Five on Friday

hellohappiness.com

(1) So I got a new laptop on Black Friday while we were on vacation(that post coming later!) I have had the same laptop for roughly 6 years. It was beyond slow. I could barely do anything on it. I kept pushing it to the back burner because I really use my iPhone for most things but certain things I can't. We found a great deal on a Toshiba and I've played on it a good bit since then. Now if I can just figure out Windows..

(2) We are almost done Christmas shopping! This is about 2 weeks early for us. We did most of our shopping online Thanksgiving night and Black Friday with a few things here and there online and a couple of things in the stores as well. We did venture to Walmart on Black Friday and loaded up on some good deals. This is what our house is looking like lately.

Alan and I don't buy for each other, other than stocking gifts. We just say "go buy that so and so you want".. So I got a computer and he, so far, has gotten these shoes:

(3) I have been pretty slack in my Elf on the Shelf ideas. Madison doesn't seem quite as excited as she did last year. Sophie so far has played the guitar, worn a skirt, rode a car, holding the Elf on the Shelf book and I can't remember the 5th.

(4) Riley pulled up for the first time yesterday! I ran something to the garage and came back to this.. This is very exciting!

(5) The play room is getting close to being complete! We are still waiting on a shipment from Ikea and we got some stuff yesterday that we need to put up. Here is a peak of the gorgeous throw pillows I ordered from Target to go on the couch.

Tonight, we picked out this paint color and got a quart to test it out..

Playroom perfection.

Another reason I love Pinterest. I came across a pin of the most perfect playroom and clicked on it. We have been on the hunt for ideas of storage, toys and paint color but have had bad luck finding what we(I) wanted....until this pin.

Swoon.
The colors, the sensory boards, the discovery bottles, the art, those rings! Not to mention the girl is a cutie!
So I clicked the pin and it took me to this fantastic site - Fun at Home with Kids

Once I clicked on the pin and it brought me to the site, I was so excited to see the playroom was neat, organized(with toys!!!) and primary colors. The mom also posted where she got everything in the room. My Amazon wish list has to be roughly $6000(I even added some toys she posted)

I already had in mind to get a(or 2 or 3) Ikea Expedit shelf  to put on it's side for books and toys. Those colorful totes affirm my decision. Love it as a room divider too!

Since moving Madison's playroom table down to the kitchen for her to eat at, I'm not on the hunt for a nicer table. This one is exactly what I was looking for(but a bit more pricey). I love the clean lines and that she made it a lego table by adding the base for legos on the top.

She also loves totes as much as me! I love these colorful totes to hold blocks, legos and other small mass toys.

Go here to see a lot more pics, where she purchased things and even their rock wall. Yes, there's a rock wall in the play room. Her kids must be in Heaven :)

She is a former Science teacher and stay at home mom of 2 kids and also posts really great baby and toddler activities. RUN to her site if you are a mom, dad, grandparent or caregiver. Follow her blog, Facebook and Pinterest. She's SUPER nice(I've chatted a couple of times on Facebook).

All photos are courtesy of Fun at Home with Kids and permission was granted to use for this post.
This is not a sponsored post and I have no affiliation with this site other than I'm in love with her site and her playroom. :)

Play room ideas

Reason 23902 I love Pinterest! I have been getting ideas for a while on how to decorate our bonus room to make it Madison's play room. Our room is pretty big as it is over the entire garage. 1/4 of it will house our workout machine and tv so I'm getting ideas for the other 3/4 of it. I have no idea where to begin but here are some ideas I have.

I love this entire room! From the colors to the shelves and cubbies. My most favorite part is the half wall dividing the room. I already have the room arranged to help deter her from playing with the equipment. It somewhat helps. I would love having nice bookshelves with a walkway off to one of the sides to we can get to our machine and can put up a baby gate.

I love this! These are Ikea bookshelves turned on their side to make seating with additional storage for toys. I would love to have one wall with this on it.

We have a couch up there in front of the windows but I want to take that out and put in a nice, comfy window seat that could also serve as extra sleeping space if anyone ever stayed the night.  I love the bookcases and extra storage.

Our walls are slanted as well so this helps visually, even though there's not much room for toys with the chairs, couch and table. I do love the little place on the left for hanging clothes. A good idea for a 'dress up' station.

Art/Quotes

For above/near a bookshelf or reading nook.

These are framed board games without the glass. Put the game pieces in baggies behind the game and take down to play. Doubles as fun art!

Organization
Galvanized buckets to store crayons, pencils and markers.
Baby food jars, painted, for crayon storage
Salt and pepper shakers for glitter
These are $1 buckets from Michaels. Drill holes and attach with zip ties! Love this for toys storage and it looks fun too!
An easy solution for hanging artwork and being able to switch out easily.

Love this paint color and color scheme!

This is adorable! I also really like the paper roll on the table for a place to color!

I saw a cute idea where you pass letters back and forth through a mailbox. This would be a really cute and I think she would love this!

Reading Nook

Love this stage! She loves attention so I think she would really love performing on a stage! This is so cute!
