Mess free finger painting

I kept seeing this on Pinterest, and I finally remembered to buy the materials to make it!

You will need:
-someone to watch your child while you put it together. Lesson learned.
-gallon zipper bag

Open the bag and put the paint inside. I didn't do much paint because I wasn't sure. Next time I will add a good bit more. Close the bag and get out as much air as you can. Tape the zipper part of the bag. Then tape the bag to a table or the window. I thought the window would be pretty against the sunshine.

She seemed to enjoy this for roughly 5 minutes and then walked away but she did keep coming back to it while playing with other things. I left it up a few days and she keeps going back to it.

Say what?

-(A) "I'm going to leave at a decent time and go get a slushie" (C) "We are going out and could get one" (A) No it's not the same, I'll go."

-(While unloading the dishwasher-(C) "Any idea why there's a golf ball in here?" (A)"Madison"

-(A)"Did you find your keys?" (C)"No. I've even looked in the fridge and pantry"

-(C to M)"Are you pooping?! You didn't eat enough to poop!"

-(Had given M her snack cup on the way home and Alan got her out of her seat)(A)"Holy cow, what was in there... sawdust?"

Happies and Crappies and Instagram Friday

I'm knocking out two birds with one stone this week and combining two blogs!

-Got a Mommy part-day Thursday
-Realized I have enough frozen meals for 2 weeks. No major grocery trip!
-Got M some crafty things yesterday, trying to come up with new activities and I can't wait to blog about them!
-It's sleeting as I type.

-Madison was up all night, again, Monday and Thursday nights and isn't taking good naps lately.

-She also woke up screaming at midnight Wednesday night. Luckily I rocked her to sleep and put her into bed with us where she fell asleep and proceeded to grind her teeth all night.

Our week in pictures...

You know she's tired when she lays down. She never lays down.

Slushie time

Took M and Wilma to a local lake

Thought this picture was cute. Explains those two. Besties.

Smoothie for breakfast

Yes please! Too bad closest is Charlotte or Atlanta :(

Loves her new Dora shirt and I need to suck it up that she's not a 18 month size anymore but I can't accept the fact that my 16 month old will wear a 24 month size. Is there an in between size? I haven't seen one

This is today. Gray and sleeting.

Little gymnast

Since she was a year old we wanted to do gymnastics. She loves flipping and dancing. I looked at the time and didn't see a class for her age. We talked about it again and I did some more digging and found a class for 16 months-3 years so I called. It's a once a week 30 minute class. The class is pretty small with only 5 kids. I told our library friends A + P and they decided to go along. P is 17 months.

They started out by stretching. Then they walked on balance beams, worked on the bars and finally get in a foam pit. It teaches her to focus and listen to instructions and also how to do things she don't normally do(hand stands, flips on the bar, walking sideways, etc). It's also good exercise for both of us since I'm helping her do everything.

She did not love the foam pit. I give her a few more times going and she'll be crawling all over it.

Grocery store time saver!

I joined e-meals again. After getting tired of trying to come up with creative menus week to week, basing those recipes around what's on sale and clipping coupons and blah blah blah, I just bit the bullet and decided to try it again. Since I left a while back, they now do 7 meals instead of 5 and it's $21/3 months instead of $15. This is our 3rd week back and I love it. Use the coupon code DAVE for a small % off your first 3 months. I think it was $3 off.

I took their grocery list template and made my own. I always need a good bit more groceries than just groceries for meals(snacks, breakfast, drinks, etc)  and sometimes I will miss something if I just write it to the side. So I made a document broken down by areas of the store-produce, dairy, frozen, canned/packaged, health/other. I have a column for coupons and the far right column is for price. If I have a coupon, I subtract it so I get a ballpark idea of what my total should look like. If I'm not sure of an exact price, I guesstimate.
So I start out printing my Emeals recipes and grocery list. I then mark off the meals or sides we don't want and then go to the pantry and mark off the items I already have and don't need to buy. Then I will just copy each item over to my grocery list and then I add in things I need. My list is for Publix. I love Publix. The people are always so nice. The store is always clean and it's not crowded at all during the weekday. Plus they double coupons up to .50(for every coupon .50 or under, they double it so my .50 coupon is now $1 off)

Then I go to I heart Publix and browse their Weekly Ad with coupon matchups. That way I can see if there are any good stockup items(or if any of my grocery list items have coupons somewhere). They will tell you if and where any coupons are for all of the items in the weekly ad. Awesome, right? So I go through the ad and if there are any good stock up items that I have coupons for. If so, I put them down. I pull all my coupons out and put them in an envelope. As I grab my items, I pull the coupons out and put them either in the buggy or in my pocket!

My list ends up looking something like this;

I always tend to forget something after printing it out and end up writing something. As I go through the store, I highlight the items I've gotten. Simple enough!

Do you have any tricks when shopping to make it easy?

Instagram Friday

Here's my week in Instagram pics. Some of these are part of the daily challenge.
Follow me here.

Cameron loves his Daddy

Lunch with my BFF, Amanda on Saturday

This was 4 days ago. They called for snow last night. South Carolina living for ya.
It ended up being 70 that day.

I offered her a tortilla chip but she spotted the strawberries on the counter and wanted those instead. This child can eat her weight in fruit and I love that she loves fruit that much. Another picture where she looks just like her Daddy.

She started gymanstics last week. :) More on that to come.

Snack tray.
Whoever lets their child play with confetti is nuts. Fail.

Flour play gone wild. It did allow me to get supper made.

Since it's been raining for roughly 45 days, we now have a nice creek running through the yard.

Bead sensory box

Madison loves her new sensory boxes. I made a total of 4 and will be posting them over the next few weeks. This is good for texture play, hand/eye coordination and it's good for busy, alone play.

For this box I used oatmeal. I bought googly eyes, a few strands of beads and I included the Silly Bandz that I got from the Goodwill Bags O Fun I bought a couple weeks ago. I also put in a small strainer for her to scoop and pour.

This is the reason I want edible material.

I keep this box in the kitchen and it allows me to prepare supper while keeping an eye on her. She loves playing in the floor.

It also allows for easy clean up. I will have to replace the oatmeal often I'm sure, since she empties half of it every time she plays.

I bought all of these items(except the Silly Bandz) at Dollar Tree. Goodwill is a great place to get small items to put in them. Ours sells Bags O Fun which usually include a bunch of small plastic toys.
As with any small toys, make sure to keep a close eye on them!

Blue is her color

This girl loves being outside. It was warm but cloudy. The perfect day for pictures!

Those lashes.

I'm such a bad mom but this picture is so cute.
