Day 1: We got her up around 7:45am and put her directly in panties. We asked her every few minutes if she was dry, to check her panties, if she needed to tee-tee and if she was wet. We decided to take her to sit on the potty every 20 minutes. Around 8:30am, she had her first accident. Another small accident at 9:30 and then 9:50(I think she was finishing off). We decided to then sit her on the potty every 15 minutes after that. At 11am, Alan took her and they sat in there a while. He then got her to stand up and she had peed a little in the potty and finished in the floor. We think she was going when he asked her to stand up. We set the timer and took her every 15 minutes. At 12:30, she told Alan she needed to potty, he took her and she didn't go. That happened again. The third time, I took her and she peed in the potty! Alan took Madison to play at the mall and I put Riley down for a nap. Around 1:15pm, she got out of her bed for a while. I went in her room and she had gotten a bird statue that I had took from a shelf to sit on her dresser and was trying to put it back on the shelf haha! So since I was in there, I made her sit on the potty. After a few minutes, I asked if she wanted privacy and she said yes. I closed the door and left it cracked enough to where I could see her but she couldn't see me. In the mirror, I saw her bend over and look and then she said "tee tee!" I came in and she had peed in the potty again! She woke up around 3:45 DRY! I sat her on the potty for a while but she didn't use it. I woke her up at 9:30pm and she didn't go. Woke again at 11:15 and after a few minutes, she peed on the potty!
Day 2: Got her up at 5:45am and she was dry! I sat her on the potty but she did not go. She woke up at 8:15 dry but would not potty. At 8:45, she had an accident. At 10am, I caught her squatting. She had an accident in her pants but when I ran her to the potty, she went in there too. At 10:15, I caught her squatting again. She had a small accident but finished in the potty. I don't think she had finished before. They were playing on the porch around 12pm and when I saw her, her pants were wet. I am unsure if it was water from one of the chairs or pee. Around 5pm, she had an accident but finished in the potty. She went to bed at 6pm.
Day 3: I woke her around 3am. She was dry and after a few minutes, she peed in the potty. I left her alone because obviously she is able to hold it for 8 hours! She woke up at 8:30am dry! I sat her on the potty but she did not go. At 9:15am, I took her to the potty but nothing.. She had accidents at 9:30 and 11am. She went down for a nap at 1pm and woke around 4:15 wet then finished in the potty. She then used the potty at 6:30 and then went to bed. I took her at 9:30 and she did not go potty.
Day 4: I woke her up at 3am and she went in the potty. She slept until 8am, woke up dry and did not want to potty so I did not force her. At 9am, she told me she had to potty, ran to the bathroom and she peed in the potty! At 11 and 12 she went in the potty. We ran to the store and she stayed dry and then when we got home, she told me she needed to potty and went. She went down for a nap, woke up dry and went to the potty. She went in the potty before bed and then again when I got her up at 9:30pm.
Day 5: I woke her up at 5am and she went in the potty. She woke at 9am, she told me she had to potty and went. She then went at 10:50. At 11:50, 12:15 and 12:25, she told me she needed to potty and went. The last time, she told me she needed to poop and went and sat down but stood up while going and had a small accident in the floor. I count it, though!
We are currently on Day 6 and she hasn't had an accident in her pants since 3 full days ago! She has told us for 2 days when she needs to potty. She has done really well!!
If you are going diaper free, have roughly 20 pair of undies handy. The Good Nights pee pads(found by the pull ups) are life savers! They keep the sheets dry so you aren't changing sheets at 3am.
Have help available. Your spouse, significant other, in laws, a best friend.. Someone to help you. You will need it! They need to be there to help from the time the child gets up until they go to bed. At least to help you so you can leave the house or go potty or make a phone call.
Have lots of candy/treats ready. We gave her a candy treat every time she went in the potty. She also got to put a sticker on her chart. 4 categories - Went in the potty, Told mom or dad, pooped in potty and woke up dry. Even at 3am, we put stickers on her chart and gave her a gummy.
Lots of praise, encouragement and don't get frustrated. We started doing the "potty dance" after she went and so she kept doing it.
