Our weekend in Cashiers

Alan and I spent last weekend in Cashiers, NC. We spent our very first overnight weekend up here many years ago and it's a spot we have always enjoyed coming to. We didn't take a lot of pictures but it was a very nice get away! We got up there Friday, early evening and ate at Ugly Dog Pub. The atmosphere was nice, food wasn't great-other than the mac & cheese bites- and the drinks were great. Alan found his new favorite drink there. We headed back after supper and crashed fairly early! Life of parents :)

After breakfast on Saturday, we went on a short hour hike nearby to a local camp that Alan used to worked at. It was really nice letting him show me around a place that means so much to him. It's a beautiful place!

After our hike, we stopped by Sapphire Brewing Company and had lunch. This was literally the view from our table. I could get used to this! The pizza was good but not amazing, salad was really yummy and the drinks good!

We then rode up to Highlands, NC and walked around for a little bit. We headed back toward Cashiers and made a pit stop for some pedicures!

We then headed back to our room, rested a bit and got ready for our reservations at The Orchard. Love the atmosphere and the food and drinks were great too!

We stopped by Hendersonville on the way home Sunday, walked around downtown and then headed home later that afternoon. It was a really nice weekend that was much needed! We've vowed to not go another 3 years before having another overnight trip! :)

Madison's 5th Birthday!

Tuesday, September 6 was Madison's 5th Birthday! Alan and I brought a special snack to her school snack time..

 Donut holes!

After lunch, we ran a couple of errands and then went to Chic Fil A for a late lunch. The playground was empty so it was great. The girls were pretty tired so they didn't play too long and were ready to go. We stopped by QT for a slushie and then the local cupcake shop for a birthday cupcake and then we headed home so she could open presents.

Riley got sissy Splashlings!

Mom and Dad got her a new bike!

Five on Friday- Happy September!

(one) We have gotten back into the swing of things with school. The girls are absolutely loving it! Even our anxious Madison doesn't hesitate to walk in class and start playing with her friends.

(two) With that, I've gotten back into the swing of things! Boot camps 3 days a week, Moms Group starts next week and then coming home one day a week. We live too far away for me to come home after workout/moms group so I will just hang out or run errands. Just glad to be back in my normal routine and seeing all of my friends that I've missed over the summer!

(three) Can you believe it's September?! Madison turns 5.. FIVE!!!!!! on Tuesday. Our 10 year anniversary is Thursday, Madison's party, me and Alan have our very first 2 day weekend in 5 years this month(to celebrate said anniversary) and Alan is taking Madison on her very first camping trip this month.. it's a crazy, busy month already! Lots of fun times building lots of memories! Did I mention that Madison is turning FIVE?! How in the world did THAT happen???

(four) Working on high protein/low carb recipes. Scouring Pinterest. This will also be good for our girls who tend to like packaged junk more than fresh or cooked things. I'm excited to try to incorporate new snacks and recipes!

(five) For anyone who doesn't know, our cat Sierra had kidney failure almost 2 weeks ago. The blood work showed that it was acute. I started noticing her acting strange Thursday morning.. and by Monday, she was basically unsavable :( Her numbers were basically off the charts. Our other cat, Cameron has been really sad. They were together 10+ years. He's been sleeping all day, looking around and meowing a lot :(
