Madison's first day in 2 year old Pre-K

Madison's first day back was yesterday. She's in a new class with new teachers but 3 of her friends from last year are in her current class so I think that helps!

She slept in our bed the night before. She's had lots of trouble falling to sleep easily lately.
I treated her to breakfast in bed while watching cartoons(and while I got ready!)

Obligatory First Day Picture

 After school slushie!

What a difference a year makes! She looks like a baby last year!

Everybody around here is enjoying school again! Madison is loving the structured play and learning. She's coming home singing and talking about her friends. I have been interacting with moms I haven't seen over the summer break. I am getting back in the groove of exercising, spending one on one time with Riley, cleaning and doing other things while she's gone so I have more time to spend with them in the afternoon. I am now able to run errands easier(taking 2 kids to shop is impossible). Madison just recently gave up naps which means earlier bedtime. She has cried at bedtime lately and has ended up in our bed.. Her first day back, after whining just a little, I gave her a sticker sheet. 10 minutes later, she was knocked out asleep! Tonight she put up a fight for a few minutes but about 20 minutes later, she's passed out!

People have asked if we are putting Riley in. They do accept babies her age but we are going to keep her home and either let her start going after her birthday in January for the remainder of the school year(if there's room) or just let her start in August next year. We haven't decided yet. This allows me some one on one time with her during her learning months. Sitting, talking, crawling, standing, walking.. All the big milestones!

Sunday Social- August 17

1. What is one item you wish you could splurge on right now. A Kate Spade purse. I love her bags but I'm not sure I could justify spending that kind of money on a purse. I could buy lots of clothes for us for the cost of one purse.

2. If you had an entire weekend of no plans what would you do? SLEEP, watch tv and do absolutely nothing!

3. What is the next place you are visiting outside of your current city? Edisto in a couple of weeks.

4. Are you a neat freak or a clutterbug? Neat freak to an extent.

5. What is your favorite summer purchase? Madison's birthday party venue. This is the first year we haven't had it at our house so we have rented a place. I hope it's lots of fun!

First off, Happy Birthday to Alan! We love you so much and hope you have a great day!!

I have fallen off the blogging bandwagon, ya'll. I have just lost all creativeness when it comes to trying to figure out a topic to write on, so I've just come to blogging monthly updates on Riley and a Sunday Social here and there. That's not enough in my opinion. I know most of our blog is our family and I'm sure(hope) ya'll are interested in seeing things about the girls about about things we are doing around this crazy animal farm. I will do better. Meanwhile, here's a mish mash of what's been going on lately..

-We took the girls to a nearby theme park a few weeks ago. It was a seriously spur of the moment decision as we were going to take them to a local water park but the more we talked and looked at the prices/hours, we ended up there. We wanted an all day event to get everyone out of the house and we wanted water. We researched and found the ticket prices to the theme park were more than half off(if bought online) starting at 4pm. Madison and Riley would be free. They were open until 10pm with the water park open until 7pm. 3 hours in the water park and then 3 hours in the theme park. We found out that Madison was big enough to ride about 10 rides so we went with that option.  We got there right at 4 and headed straight to the waterpark.

-We went on our first date night since Riley has been born. We went 2 weeks ago and it was really nice. We went to Copper River and it was pretty good. After that, we went to Krispy Kreme for coffees and donuts. We have another one planned next weekend and I'm excited already. It's so nice to take out a few hours and enjoy just being the couple that we started out as. I don't even think we talked about the girls a whole lot. We did talk a lot though!

-Madison goes back to preschool in a couple of weeks. Trying to get her prepared with clothes, shoes, supplies and a backpack. Do you realize how hard it is to find a preschool sized backpack? We lucked up and found some markers today that are on her supply list. The school supply shelves are about empty.

-We are counting down the days until our vacation in a few weeks. We thought a late Summer vacay was a good idea and now we are kicking ourselves :) It's getting closer though!

Sunday Social - August 10

1. One Show you would love to see on netflix that isn’t there
I'm not missing anything. I am watching older/current series(Pretty Little Liars and How I Met Your Mother) so nothing 'new' doesn't bother me. I don't watch much tv now anyway.
2. One song you wish they would play more on the radio
I don't listen to much other than Pandora Disney. I wish they would play less "Let it Go".
3. Your favorite song to sing loudly to in the car
Sam Smith- "Stay with Me"
4. What Movie/TV show do you quote the most?
I don't.
5. One silly thing you do daily
Umm... nothing that I can think of right off.

Riley is seriously the easiest baby ever. She is so sweet and silly and good. She is so content sitting and playing on her own or riding in the car. She loves her sister so much! Time is flying by. Happy 7 months, Riley! We love you!
