She went in without a fuss. Daddy, on the other hand, had a tough time. One of the many reasons I love him is his emotional side :) Madison just laid her head on his shoulder and let him have his moment. He handed her over to the teacher and she didn't even think about crying!
Afterward there was a parent orientation where they went over some rules and things they do. I then checked my Facebook to see this from her teacher. She loves that buggy!
We come home and Alan went running while I chop and freeze some onions and bell peppers and chopped oranges and bananas. Alan then lays down and I clean out my neglected car. I get another picture from her teacher. Snack time and my daughter is dancing to the music :)
Her teachers said she had a great day and was very polite, using "Please" and "Thank You". When I picked her up, her class was on the playground. She was sitting in the sandbox with a teacher, talking her ear off. She saw me, smiled and turned back around to finish talking. I picked her up and she said "Down, slide" and walked over to the slide to play. That's a good sign!
I brought her a slushie as a 1st day treat and she sucked it down!
We went home, ate lunch, had a bath and she took a 2 hour nap! She kept talking about swinging and sliding. I hope she continues to love it!
Growing baby- As her digestive system preps for
the outside world, she's manufacturing meconium -- the tarry black
substance you'll find in her first dirty diaper! She's already got a lifetime's supply of eggs in her womb -- about six million of them!
How big is your baby?
Symptoms-I feel her kicking a lot more now. I can also feel her body parts sticking out. Back and hips hurting bad. Feeling Braxton Hicks contractions a few times a day.
Total weight gain/loss: 2 lbs since last week and2.8 lbsover pre pregnancy weight
Belly measures- 31"
Craving- Everything. I feel like I stay starving!
Bought- 4 Newborn pants, a newborn onesie and a 3 month shirt.
Done-Let her cubby dry after painting and it's now in her closet with the bins inside.
Looking forward to-Our anniversary surprise! More on that later :)
Other thoughts- We had out anatomy scan yesterday and everything looks normal! She weighed 14oz and measured right on trackwith her due date!
We have been crazy busy the past few weeks doing things around the house, getting ready for Madison's party and a ton of other errands, etc.
Last minute touches for Madison's party. I'm so glad we started early this year. Now to finish this project and to buy the food and we should be done!
Finally got 4 more frames added to our gallery wall going upstairs. I may switch the far left 8x10 with the far right 4x8. Not sure I'm loving that layout.
Our new bushes have grown about 6 times their size in 2 months! They are so pretty and have baby's breath looking flowers on them that you can't see here.
Our other flowers that we planted are doing really well. We stopped buying at Lowe's and started buying from a local nursery and it really shows. Mulch also seriously helps!
This has been Alan's project lately. The rocks are actually a reddish, brownish but it's not showing up great in the pic. We only bought a few rocks to make sure we liked it and we are loving how it looks.
So Alan went out around 8:30 Friday night to buy 70 more bricks and more paver base to finish off around the front of the house. He finished it up on Sunday.
My latest favorite thing. I mentioned last week that we had got one that didn't work out. Well I found an over the door hook that's working great! A place to hang my purse, our keys and Madison's library book bag for returning books.
I redid our hanging baskets. I've never done vines or greenery in there but I'm loving it! The lady at the nursery helped me pick these out and they are really growing. See that thing on the right sticking out? That's new growth just in the past week.
Getting Madison ready for school tomorrow. We had a nice talk with one of Alan's friends who has sent her 3 kids there and she had great things to say about it. It's nice to hear encouraging words from someone who's experienced it. We had a parent tea on Monday to meet the teachers and get familiar with the class. It went really well and Madison really warmed up to the room after a few minutes. We also moved her from her original 3 days to all 5 days a week. Today was her last day of gymnastics, also. She will have music at school twice a week(and an additional time at a church music program we start in a couple of weeks) and gym once a week. I'm hoping she falls in love with it quickly!
Our downtown, along with United Way and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, had an event for kids. There were characters, face painting, balloon animals and some other things, so we decided to take Madison.
This child isn't scared of anything!
A generous donor has also paid for a ferris wheel to be downtown for a couple of weeks. Sunday was the last day and we hadn't had a chance to ride. Since it was so gorgeous out and we were already downtown, we decided to ride!
Even though she looks scared, she kept saying "Fun, like it" :)
I have finally gotten Riley's closet organized! All of the clothes hanging are all new, new to her or Madison's clothes that have been passed down and will hopefully fit ;) On the top shelf are Bumbos, Boppy's, Madison's big diaper bag that will be passed down, along with some other bigger items.
In the closet awaiting a dresser and shoe organizer is a box full of shoes, hairbands, bibs and other accessories.
On the floor of the closet is a rocker, water mat, play mat and bathtub my niece gave us.
One of the pieces of artwork. I couldn't resist since our blog header has birds and my Instagram shop name is Four Birds :)
Another piece of art. I obviously love owls and birds as Madison has them in her room too :) You can see the wall color better here too.
Here's a better, brighter look at the curtains and cubby with the canvas bins in it. This thing has been a lifesaver for Madison's closet. I filled the bins up Tuesday with her pjs and pants for the first 3 months.
Growing baby- She has working taste buds and is drinking several ounces of amniotic fluid each day.
How big is your baby?
Symptoms- hips hurting, some round ligament pains and headaches on and off. Nothing major this week.
Weight- 113.8 lbs
Total weight gain/loss: gained 2 lbs since last week. Am .8 over my pre pregnancy weight and feel every ounce of it :)
Belly measures- 31"
Craving- staying really thirsty!
Bought- 10 sleepers, 4 pair of pants, 2 shirts and an outfit in varying sizes(NB-6 months) pregnancy journal, 2 pieces of artwork for her room, canvas bins for her cubby
Done- hung curtains, got her cubby painted, bought the bins for it and filled them up with pants and pjs of varying sizes. Bought 2 pieces of art to hang on the walls. Updated my pregnancy journal complete with my weekly pictures.
Looking forward to- Our anatomy ultrasound on the 27th.
Other thoughts- Riley seems to be on a 2 hour sleeping schedule. I felt her have the hiccups around midnight one night this week which brought back a lot of memories. Madison had the hiccups all the time when I was pregnant and they would last 30 minutes at least. I could count on every time I had a meal, she would get them. I loved feeling it.
After months of me trying to convince Alan that the mullet needed to go, he finally agreed! I booked an appointment at my salon and we took her last Friday, August 16 :) She sat stradling Alan and did really well! She was very curious about the scissors near her head and kept wanting to look.
The first cut.. Alan's look is priceless.
It's now in a really cute bob with small layers. I love it :)
