U2 concert

Alan had a work meeting planned in Ohio. I flew up by myself and met him in Ohio, after his meetings on Friday, he took a half day and picked me up at the Ohio airport. I did great and didn't get lost or scared once! Even flying through Atlanta! From Ohio, we picked up a rental car and drove the hour and half to Louisville, Kentucky. We made it to our hotel, unpacked, cleaned up and headed to the 6:30 concert around 5:00. We get in, buy a couple of tshirts and go find our seats.

One Republic was their opening act and they didn't come on stage until after 7:00. Considering it felt like 103* in that stadium, that was a bit annoying. They sang for an hour and sounded great! I'm a fan of their music, so I knew most of the songs they sang.

It took an hour, after One Republic left the stage for them to break down and set up for U2. So by the time U2 came on stage, it was around 9:00. They played a few songs that aren't Joshua Tree songs and then started into the Joshua Tree album.  The graphics on the screen were pretty amazing. The lighting and story line with the video along with the songs were great! Bono was very uplifting when he spoke, as well. They finished up the album, left the stage and then did an encore of 4 more songs that aren't Joshua Tree songs.

The concert lasted about 2 hours. Alan was pumped and is ready to see them again!

Current podcasts..

Yes, I listen to a ton of hours of podcasts. I listen to them while I'm getting ready for the day, if the girls are away at camp or school, if they are in quiet time, errands if I'm alone... really, any free time I get.

 Up and Vanished
There is a new episode every week of this one. Love it.
'UP AND VANISHED' IS AN INVESTIGATIVE PODCAST THAT EXPLORES THE UNSOLVED DISAPPEARANCE OF GEORGIA BEAUTY QUEEN AND HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER, TARA GRINSTEAD, AN 11-YEAR-OLD MYSTERY THAT IS THE LARGEST CASE FILE IN GEORGIA’S HISTORY. FOLLOW ALONG AS HOST PAYNE LINDSEY, A DOCUMENTARIAN TURNED AMATEUR INVESTIGATOR, EXAMINES OLD CASE EVIDENCE, RE-INTERVIEWS PERSONS OF INTEREST, AND UNCOVERS NEW LEADS, WHILE GUIDING LISTENERS THROUGH HIS REAL TIME INVESTIGATION. A RECENT BREAK IN THE CASE MAY HAVE GIVEN US MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWER, AND THE MAIN QUESTION STILL REMAINS...

I have listened to the first 2 episodes and it didn't disappoint! I'm glad Phillip has his own podcast now. His contribution to Up and Vanished is really good!

The SWORN podcast, presented by UP AND VANISHED, pulls back the curtain on the criminal justice system exposing the untold stories and hard truths behind major cases, wrongful convictions, controversial legislation, and more. Host PHILIP HOLLOWAY, a defense attorney and former prosecutor with a background in law enforcement, not only digs into the legal aspects of these cases but the emotional consequences of their outcomes.

Finished this up last week. Such a sad story.
Season 1- For 27 years, the investigation into the abduction of Jacob Wetterling in rural Minnesota yielded no answers. Reporter Madeleine Baran reveals how law enforcement mishandled one of the most notorious child abductions in the country and how those failures fueled national anxiety about stranger danger, led to the nation's sex-offender registries and raise questions about crime-solving effectiveness and accountability.

I listened to Part 1 of the Tupac Shakur podcast at the beach and Part 2 last week. Really interesting!
I then listened to A Dark Past Parts 1 and 2 last week. This was a super interesting story and I hope they keep up if there are any developments!
Nic and Captain discuss captivating real life cases.

This American Life
I started at episode #617- Fermi's Paradox "Are We Alone?"
I will admit, they are not my favorite hosts.. Maybe this wasn't a great episode to start on..
I may try to find one more interesting.

There's a theme to each episode of This American Life, and a variety of stories on that theme. Most of the stories are journalism, with an occasional comedy routine or essay.

I've recently subscribed to a lot more podcasts and will share them as I listen to them-to make sure they are good enough to recommend :)

Beach trip Summer 2017

We got down to Myrtle Beach after 4:00 on Wednesday, June 7. The resort was super nice! It is freezing out. We get unpacked just in time for happy hour. Free drinks and snacks. We sit downstairs for a bit and enjoy that and then walk on the beach. The girls love it!

We get cleaned up and head down to check out the hotel we have booked for Thanskgiving. Then we stop by a California Pizza and eat. After that, we eat ice cream next door at Kirk's ice cream parlor. Then it's bedtime!

Thursday-  we get up and eat breakfast. It's still cold out so we decide to head to Broadway at the Beach and walk around. We decide to go in Ripley's aquarium to see the mermaid show, which the girls LOVED.

Friday- It's finally warm enough for a beach day! After breakfast, we head out and the girls play in the water and sand for 6 hours!!

After getting cleaned up, we ride around and find Myrtle Manor. We used to watch this show when it was out. No shame ;)

Saturday- another warm day so another day spent on the beach! After that, we head to Broadway at the Beach so the girls can ride the rides. They ride them for about 5 hours and we leave there at 11:30pm. Their longest day ever! They had a lot of fun on them.

We found a Grinch cup! Anybody that knows Riley, knows she LOVES The Grinch!
