17 weeks pregnant with Riley

17 weeks with Madison(def bigger with Riley!)

Date: July 31

How far along: 17 weeks

Growing baby-Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Symptoms- No major symptoms this week. I feel her kicking a lot more. I also have major spurts of energy or days where I am drained all day.

Weight- 109.6 lbs

Belly measures- 31.5"

Craving- Subway BLT with everything. Any food is great right now. I've craved chicken stew, Chinese and fries this week. Depends on the day and what restaurant I drive by :)

Bought- nothing this week

Done- registered at Target and Babies R Us. Had appointment yesterday..her heart rate was 155. Talked more in depth with Dr about having tubal done after Riley is born.

Looking forward to- our anatomy scan in 4 weeks. Announcing Riley's middle name :)

Finally feeling like I look pregnant and not just like I have a belly. I've been wearing maternity shirts lately and my regular pants are getting too tight. Time for some maternity shorts/pants! I've overall been feeling really good! I have been nesting a bit so trying to get Riley's room put together, washing all of her clothes(except the new with tags stuff) and putting Madison's old, out of season clothes up for sale, trying to make more room. Also trying to decide the direction I want to go for Riley's room. I need to find some artwork for the walls and go from there.

Sunday Social- July 28

1. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Mexican

2. What's your guilty pleasure/comfort food? chips.. I love Salt and Vinegar!
3. What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten? I typically don't eat crazy stuff but I have tried Calamari(octopus)

4. What foods do you avoid at all costs? seafood, mushrooms, deviled eggs.

5. What meal reminds you of your childhood? mac &; cheese from the box. My sitter made it all the time and it was so good back then! Not so good now but still reminds me of her. Also, anytime my mom cooks for holidays or get togethers, it always reminds me.

6. Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it. I don't really cook the same thing over and over. I suscribe to Emeals so I'm constantly doing new things.

What about you? What are you favorites?

16 weeks pregnant with Riley

Date: July 24

How far along: 16 weeks

Growing baby- Your baby now weighs in at a whopping three to five ounces, and he's four to five inches in length. The bones that are now in place in his ears means he can probably hear your voice as you talk to your partner and sing in the car. While he’s getting used to your voice, the tiny muscles in his body, especially the ones in his back, are gaining strength, so he can straighten out a little more. And thanks to his developing facial muscles, your baby is capable of making a few expressive frowns and squints, even at this early stage. And his eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light (although the eyelids are still sealed).
Symptoms- nesting, big appetite, headaches(but I think it's due to my neck being tight)

Weight-108 lbs

Belly measures- 30"

Craving- Mexican, Subway BLT with everything

Bought- Alan's mom took me shopping and got me 7 maternity tops and a new bra :) She also got Madison some pjs and Riley 3 headbands, 4 longsleeve onesies, 2 pants/long sleeve top outfits and 3 top/onesie/cardigan outfits. I also bought Riley a Bumbo, 4 maternity tops, Riley 4 pair of pants, 2 shirts, 8 headbands, a jacket, 2 longsleeve onesies, a longsleeve pant jumper, 2 pant/jacket outfits, 2 shirt/pant outfits, 3 pair of shoes and a cubby storage unit for her closet. (Madison and their playroom got a few things too!)

Done- Cleaned out Riley's closet and hung up her new clothes. I also pulled out Madison's clothes that should be in the correct season for Riley. Riley now has a half a closet full of clothes!

That first section is all new/new to her newborn clothes.

Looking forward to- Ultrasound next Tuesday to hear her heartbeat.

I can now feel her kicking! I've felt it almost a week now but it's been so random that I wasn't real sure. This week I have felt it more often! This week also has been good on the nesting front! I've been cleaning out Madison's closet and getting Riley's closet ready to go! I've also kept up with my cleaning more-so this week.

16 weeks with Madison. I'm carrying bigger this time, even though my belly was 3" bigger with Madison and my weight was the same as it is now, during the same week. So weird!

15 weeks pregnant with Riley

Date: July 17

How far along: 15 weeks

Growing baby-Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces)the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds.
Symptoms- sore hips, headache, starving all the time

Weight- 107 lbs

Belly measures- 30"

Craving- anything. Salty things like chips or peanuts

Bought- 14 newborn sleepers, 2 winter jumpers, 3 dresses, 3 long sleeve onesies and 16 shortsleeved onesies. I love Instagram shops and FB buy/sell pages :)

Done- Had gender ultrasound yesterday! Named her Riley!

Looking forward to- being able to buy stuff and plan her room now that we know gender!

Baby #2 is a GIRL!

We had our big reveal today and found out that Baby #2 is a girl and we have named her Riley! We are so happy! We know that her and Madison will be the best of friends! She was measuring right on track at 15 weeks(which I will be tomorrow) and was very squirmy! She kept doing flips and pushing her head against my belly, crossing and uncrossing her legs. I blame the gummy worms I had before I went in. Her heart rate was 162. She kept sitting with her legs crossed and it took a bit for the tech to get her to move her legs so she could see what she was hiding!

The proof. See how she's sitting on her legs? Those are her knees!

All that squirming made her sleepy!

Waving!

We are so happy to see she has all of her limbs, fingers, toes and looks really healthy! We will have the anatomy scan in 5-6 weeks to get a closer look at her organs! Please keep her in your prayers that she keeps growing healthy like she has been!

We find out tomorrow afternoon what Baby's gender is. We have finally come up with a boy and girls first name. The girl's was easy.  The boy's, not so much. All that said, you can make your own guess on gender, birthday, height, weight and time of birth. It's just something fun to do :) You don't have to login or make an account. Just click the image below and then click the orange "Enter a Guess" on the right above all the other guesses and you can enter your name and guess! Please don't put your city for privacy sake(I edited those that did) Happy guessing!

What baby #2 won't get.

So we all go a bit crazy for our first kid. We have no idea what to buy, what the kid needs or will even like. Here's my list of what our 2nd babe won't be getting.

-a $200 bed set. With Madison, I fell in love with her set(Love birds by Bananafish). It came with a crib skirt, bumper, blanket and sheet. $200. She never used the blanket sinceifare still not ready for that phase of her life. She used the bumper for a few months until she could roll herself over and then we switched it for a breathable bumper. She used the crib skirt until we had to lower the crib mattress when she started standing. We did and still use the sheet though. Not worth the money. While it was gorgeous, babe #2 will have a sheet and breathable bumper with no blanket and no crib skirt from the get-go. Sorry!

-Infant only car seat. Duh. We will buy an infant to convertible seat and save $200.

-a new diaper bag. Thank goodness Madison's big baby diaper bag was black! Score!

-All new clothes/shoes if it's a girl. While I have already bought a few new pieces,  I have a whole closet of Madison's clothes.

-to sleep in our room for it's first 4 months. We swore Madison wouldn't sleep in our room. The day we brought her home, she choked on milk. She not only slept in our room, one of us stayed up to watch her sleep. This baby will, hopefully, not choke(ever!) and will sleep in his/her crib the first night.

-be bottle fed full time(hopefully). I breast fed Madison for 3 weeks. I didn't feel she was getting enough milk so I started pumping. I pumped for 11 months! It's more inconvenient than breastfeeding in my opinion. You have to feed the baby and then go pump. At night was the worst because I'd get up to feed Madison and then I'd have to go pump for 20 minutes. By the time I got done and fell back to sleep, she was waking for another feeding. Repeat

Pregnancy #2- 14 weeks

Date: July 10

How far along: 14 weeks

Growing baby- Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Symptoms- hips hurt, hungry all the time, spurts of energy, nesting

Weight- 108 lbs

Belly measures- 30"

Craving- Mexican

Bought- nothing

Done- checked out 2 baby name books, cleaned out his/her future room, picked out girls name

Looking forward to- finding out the gender on 16th, my massage this weekend

This past week

Alan took off work Wednesday and his work was off Thursday and Friday. A nice, long weekend! So of course, that means getting projects done. He pressure washed the gutters, sidewalk, columns and anything else with a shade of green on it.

Thursday, we went to my moms cookout. We didn't keep Madison awake to watch fireworks because she had only napped 30 minutes that day and was wiped out. Plus I think she would be afraid of them.

Then he decided to clean out Baby #2's bedroom, which was his office. He did most of the work while I watched Madison but it all got done! Everything is out except the paper shredder and litterbox. In the mix, he also rearranged her playroom. She seems to play with her toys more when you rearrange them.

Church on Sunday went well. We decided that Alan would not walk with us to the nursery. We would see how it would go and if she was upset, I would stay with her a bit. She, of course, pitched a fit when we seperated from Alan but she settled down shortly after. We went in the nursery and she seemed fine. A little girl came up to give her a snack and she took it and then asked to get down. She then went and played in the puppet house. After a bit, she went over to play with the kitchen and I snuck out. I made it to church in time. They announced during church that an ice cream truck would be giving away scoops after church, so we picked up M and enjoyed some ice cream while she played games. We weren't the only people there, promise!

I had an unscheduled dentist appointment yesterday due to my partial chipping. He fixed it up and made it fit tighter. Much better. I have to wear it another year since I can't have my surgery until after Baby is born.

What have you been up to the past week?

Day in the life- June 25

Kari over at Better Together did this last week and she's a mom of 2 under 2. I read hers and became amazed at her ability to multi task. I'm always a fan of moms that can get stuff done while their kids are playing. Kari's smallest is 3 months old. If you don't follow her already, go. She's super sweet!

7:45-M starts stirring. I always let her play because sometimes she falls back asleep. I check email, Facebook and start playing Candy Crush. I decide to get out of bed around 8:20 since we have to be ready by 9:30. I make my decaf coffee, her milk and I make a treat of cinnamon toast. She hasn't been eating much lately so I am hoping this will make her happy.
8:30- the toast is done and she's whining. I get her up, change her and sit her on the couch to drink her milk and watch cartoons while I cut up her toast and finish getting my coffee ready. She gets done and I hand her a slice of toast. She eats it! While she's eating, I let our dog, Wilma off the porch to potty and feed her. I then sit down to eat quickly.

9:00-I turn our bedroom tv on Disney Jr for M so I can get ready. I bring her last sliver of toast and juice box in our room. She will roam between the bathroom and bedroom while I get ready. Madison left me a nice surprise while I showered so I change her diaper and get her toothbrush to brush her teeth

Gymnastics day doesn't deserve time wasted to be cute since I sweat it off anyway.

9:35-We leave for gymnastics. Afterwards we are done, we go to a local store to get my best friend a birthday gift and to Hobby Lobby to pick up some ribbon and a glue gun for Madison's birthday party.

12:15- we are home and I've changed M, fixed her lunch(black beans, blueberries that she doesnt eat, strawberries and grapes) said the blessing, fixed my lunch(salad and blueberry muffin) and we are sitting down.  I check Facebook and Instagram while we eat.

12:50- Madison has finished eating and I've put her down for a nap. She's been down 20 minutes and is still playing. I start a load of her clothes in the washer, empty, load and start the dishwasher and sweep the kitchen and living room. I get done and start YandR while I finish my salad and muffin.

1:30-Alan's mom gets here and M is still playing in her crib. She starts crying and I get her up, change her and I leave for my annual eye appointment.

4:00- I get done(nothing's changed), get a box of contacts, stop by the store for some drinks and fruit and come home. Talk to Alan for a few on the phone and M and her Nimmie are on the porch. We sit out there a while and she leaves. I put M down for another attempt at a nap. She keeps rubbing her eyes so I'm hopeful. I sit down for a snack and finish YandR and watch Kardashian and Kelly and Michael. Then I get up, fold a load of clothes, feed the dogs and mix and shape the meatballs for supper.

5:45pm-Madison got up around 5:15, I'm in her room folding her clothes and Alan gets home. He's taking our dog, Micki, for her annual checkup and leaves before it starts raining. Madison asks to eat and I give her 3 slices of watermelon cut up while I upload some pics for this blog and she watches cartoons.

7:00pm- Madison eats a banana and half, drinks her milk and I give her a quick bath after I put the meatballs in the oven.

8:00- We received a form today for Madison's baptism so we are filling that out while supper finishes cooking.  We call Alan's aunt to let her know that I'm pregnant. She will be out of the country for the next 3 weeks so we wanted to let her know before she left. We finally eat around 8:20 and put The Call in. Really scary but pretty good!

11pm- The movie was over around 10:30 and Alan goes to bed. I stay up and watch Catfish so I don't have nightmares all night. A little after 11, I head to bed myself!

Happy 22 months, Madison

To see the videos in this post, go here:
 http://alanandcrystal.blogspot.com/2013/07/happy-22-months-madison.html

Well we have 2 months left until our little girl is 2. TWO! Geez, when did this happen? She is so very smart and we get told by everyone that she seems older than she is. She sometimes says 4 word sentences! It's crazy the things she picks up that people says.

She has picked up "Back hurts". I even took her to the Dr because she kept saying it. Only to find out that she was just repeating what Alan said. She never ran a fever or acted sick. Lesson learned. Don't say that anything hurts around her. She still mentions it here and there.

She has suddenly started not wanted to stay in the nursery at church. One Sunday we brought her into church. The next Sunday, we left her and they said she cried the whole time, until they took them for a ride in the buggy. This past Sunday, she started crying before we got to the room. we decided I would stay with her in there for a while and Alan would go into church. She cried for Daddy when he left but she calmed down after a few minutes and asked to get down. She started playing with another older girl and one of the teachers said she would take them for a ride in the buggy until church let out, so I made my exit and made it in time to hear the sermon. We may do this for a few Sundays until she understands that church is fun and hopefully she will like it again.

Naps have been crazy this past month. Some days she wakes up at 7:45 and will nap an hour around 2:00 and then some days she wakes up at 9:30 and nap 2 hours at 3:00. It's a guessing game lately! If she doesn't nap more than an hour, she goes to bed 30 minutes early.

She's in a size 4 diaper(5 at night) and is finally in a size 4 shoe! Most kids her age are in a size 6 shoe. She's still in 2T and 3T clothes. We are still doing gymnastics one day a week and library story time at least one day a week. She starts school in August which is exciting for both me and her.

Loves - fruit, Tec the Tractor(cartoon), her Daddy, being outside, dancing, music, Wilma

She has this silly grin that she does all the time.

She went to the highest point East of the Mississippi and took her 2nd hiking trip

Wore her first "pony".. If only for about 10 minutes

Happy girl

You can hear her Southern accent here. "Pen"  is "pe-an" I think she's gotten my accent, poor child! You can also see her huge knot on her head where she hit it last week.

Happy 22 months to our sweet girl. This month has been quite a ride. Most days are great but some days are the terrible twos! We are learning to deal with the change. On the complete opposite hand, she has been so loving this month. Voluntarily coming up to our legs or back and hugging us. Giving us kisses or hugs when we ask, or just wanting to sit in our lap more than normal. She has also started saying "I love you" first. That takes your breath away. I enjoy this little phase so much! You are such a funny and smart girl! People always stop us in the store to tell us how pretty and good you are. People always tell us how much smarter than a 22 month old you seem. That makes us feel great, of course! You get smarter everyday and sometimes wake up saying new things. It's pretty crazy! We love you so much, pumpkin!

In July, I will....

-Comment on other blogs more. I try to do it now but only do it to 2-3 blogs that I follow and I follow a ton of them.

-Exercise. I stopped when I found out I was pregnant. Before that, I had been doing Jillian Michael's Killer Abs and really liked it. I have went walking a couple of times but nothing much. Now that I'm 12 weeks, I'm over that hump and need to get active again.

-Work on Baby's room. We will find out this month what the gender is. I am hoping to figure out a way around painting. I like the color of the room and it could be gender neutral. I need to find the colors/ideas that I want for the room. The closet is full of Madison's old clothes and things so we need to get that situated.

-Work on Madison's 2 year book.

-Find and buy invitations to her party and figure out what in the world we're buying her.

What are your July goals?
