Advent Activities Days 22-25

If you receive email updates, this was sent out earlier. I made the mistake of scheduling it to post and I hadn't had a chance to update it. Day 24 had to be changed.

Day 22 - Breakfast out with parents
We went to a local French themed restaurant. It's so yummy!

Day 23- Make Gingerbread House

Day 24- Get 1 present early
Our original plan was to visit DSBG to see the lights, but it rained the entire day. Since you get out and walk around, that was impossible.
This is a bath toy that is supposed to be kid friendly. The red ball goes in the water and you push the blue star and water comes out of Elmo's mouth like a shower. Except the blue star is quite hard to push and impossible for Madison to push on her own. Wish I had read the reviews first. She does love that Elmo is in her bathtub though. Fail.

Day 25- Make hot chocolate

We had a good time doing different activities each day with Madison. I think we will continue this tradition.

Day 17-Donate to needy
We decided to donate toys to local kids at our local Dollar General. They had some great toys on the clearance table for 50% off so we were able to buy more gifts than we'd planned!

Day 18-Make grandparent craft
Since not all of the grandparents have received theirs yet, I will keep what it is a secret :) I will post a picture after everyone has gotten theirs, which will be after Christmas.

Day 19-Finger paint
I made my own paint from water, corn starch and food coloring and we put her in the bathtub to save ourselves a mess.

Day 20-Donate to Salvation Army
I didn't take a picture but the volunteer was so very friendly. She was shaking everyone's hand, even if they weren't donating.

Day 21-Read Bible story about Jesus' birth

Day 11- Local Christmas parade

Day 12-Mommy/daughter lunch date

Day 13-Pick out new toy
She loves her new microwave!

Day 14-Christmas lights
These were at a Science center in the next town over. We met Alan's dad and Stepmom for supper and then headed out. Madison loved it. She "Ooh'd and Aah'd" and giggled. It was so sweet.

Day 15 - Do something nice for someone.
In light of the tragic events in Connecticut on Friday, we decided to pay for the next 2 kids to ice skate at the local ice rink in town. Though we weren't there to see the kids, it felt really good to show someone there are good people in the world still.

Day 16-Read "Night Before Christmas"
Our original activity was to go to the botanical garden we got married at but it was raining all day so we had to switch up another activity for when we will be in NC again and can go see the lights that night instead.

Advent Activites - Days 1-5

This post includes video. If you are receiving this via email, and can't view the video, please visit http://alanandcrystal.blogspot.com

We thought it'd be fun to come up with 25 activities for Madison to do this year. I have to be honest, it was tough coming up with ideas for her to do since she's so young. It was also hard to find an Advent calendar on the 1st of December. So I got crafty.

A strip of wrapping paper, gift tags from the Dollar Tree, a marker and some tape!
Day 1- Photo with Santa

Day 2 - Open present
2 Elmo nursery rhyme books

Day 3 - Dance party

Day 4 -Snowman pancakes

Recipe:
1 banana
2 eggs

Mash banana until completely lump free. Spray pan with olive oil spray and cook 30 secs
This was the first time we've tried these pancakes and she seemed to like them. She ate 2 of them!

  Day 5- Watch Christmas movie
I knew this one would be a stretch but I thought it'd be fun. She doesn't watch a ton of tv so it'd be a small treat for her.  I recorded How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the Jim Carrey one). I had laid her down for a nap around 5:30 but she wasn't having it. Alan had a later than normal night at work so I brought Madison into the living room to lay down on the couch and rest while attempting to watch the movie.
While she did lay there and eat a cookie, she only sat still for 9 minutes of the movie. She then had enough rest and started wandering around. That counts, right?
