I bought tickets to see MUSE back in April. Back before I knew I was pregnant, which seems like an eternity ago! I confirmed with Alan that he could take off half a day Tuesday and all of Wednesday well in advance and told him I'd made surprise plans for our anniversary. I asked my mom if she would mind watching Madison that night since the concert was near her house. I also booked us a hotel room near the venue.
We decided to let Madison go to school Tuesday and pick her up at normal time and leave straight from there. We got to my mom's around 2 and visited a bit and then left to go check into our hotel by 3:30. We had a little bit of time so we took a nap! (you know you're parents when...) After our nap, we headed toward the concert venue to park and walk to get something to eat. We found a local BBQ place, ate and then walked to the concert. Cage the Elephant opened for them and they were pretty good. I knew one of their songs but their other songs were pretty decent!
There was a bit of an intermission and then MUSE came on. They really put on a great show complete with lights and lots of animation and video. Here are some videos of the concert. Be aware that there are strobes and lots of flashing lights in the videos.
The opening before they started the first song.
"Madness"
"Supermassive Black Hole"
I think we were back in the room by 11:30 or so and we both crashed! We slept until 10:00 Wednesday morning! We both felt refreshed! We missed breakfast so stopped to get a bite before picking Madison up. We got to my mom's right around 12:30 and visited a bit. Madison had the best time! She was asleep within 5 minutes of being in the car!
We made a stop by a local consignment shop and a few baby shops and then headed to IKEA, where we toyed with the idea of moving Madison to a toddler bed and giving Riley her crib. After lots of debating, we decided that none of us were ready for that step just yet and that we will just get Riley her own crib :) We did score Madison a cute circus tent and nesting cups for her birthday and hopefully Alan the pillow he's been searching high and low for. I could spend all day and a ton of money in IKEA. Thank goodness the closest one is 2 hours away! We made it home by 7:30 and Madison was ready for bed! We had a great time together and look forward to the next few days of Madison's birthday and her party! Happy early 7th anniversary, babe! I love you more than words!
1. What is your all-time favorite song? Right Where I Need to be - Gary Allan
2. Who is your favorite singer/band? Gary Allan
3. What song reminds you of your childhood? I was(and still am) a huge New Kids on the Block fan, so any of those.
4. What songs put you in a good mood? "Better Man" Pearl Jam, Supermassive Black Hole or Madness by MUSE, Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden or any really good 90s Grunge/rock.
5. What is your music to rock out to in your car? If it's not Barney or Mickey on Pandora, I usually listen to a local rock station.
6. What is the most embarrassing album or song you own? I don't own any songs or cds. I just use Pandora.
Reading... Scary Mommy Motherhood Comes Naturally Loving.. that when Madison asks for "Barney" in the car that when I say "Barney night night", it works! She will say "Shhh Barney sleeping" and won't ask again. Mommy-1, Madison -0.
Not loving.. Madison's anti-nap phase going on right now. Also, her seperation anxiety phase. She cried the whole hour she was in nursery at church yesterday. They had to take her riding in their buggy to calm her down. Frustrating to say the least.
Watching.. Catfish. I love this show and how stupid people are! I'm glad the new season is starting tomorrow!
So I entered Madison into a contest for a local Moms group for tickets to see the show. I was very hesitant to buy her tickets since she's never been to a show before and had never seen a 'mascot' in person. The contest was to tell them how your child loves music.(the show is called "Can't Stop Singing") So of course that was right up Madison's alley! I posted 2 videos of her dancing and playing with maracas and she won a runner up!! It came with 4 tickets to see the show! We were so excited!! We got there an hour early so she could play in the Play Zone which included some short shows with a few of the characters. We knew she was going to love it when we walked around the corner out of the parking garage and she saw the big truck with the characters on it. She laughed her head off! We went inside and she had the best time seeing the characters before the show. Her top teeth were trying to make it's way through so that's why her finger is in her mouth in just about every picture..
There's Murray performing .. She loved him!
He stopped to say Hi!
We've always called her Cookie Monster because she grunts and moans when she eats.. Even when she was a tiny baby. She does it worse now that she eats finger foods. She loved meeting him too! (And I think Alan did too hehe)
Ernie's hands :)
Bert
A preshow snack!
The show begins!
She had so much fun clapping and going "Ahhhh!" and dancing! She was the loudest and happiest baby around! Everyone kept looking back at her! Excuse me for my baby having fun at a children's show!
She did really good for about 30 minutes. There was a 15 minute intermission and then she started getting really squirmy. We ended up leaving before the show ended, after being there an hour. A show over an hour long for children is just too long! We are so glad we were able to go!
